Aartan Reborn Charter
In being many, we are strong. Help your brothers and you will be stronger! The purpose of the guild is for the members to have a more enjoyable and successful game than they would do on their own. After all, the more you put into life, the more you get out.
Above all things we live for our enjoyment and pleasure, and we live for the now! You may concern yourself with preparing for the End Times when your brothers do not call on you, but you should always be glad to enjoy yourself in the Now with your brothers! Although we recognise that many players want to have their characters advance as quickly as possible, we encourage guild members to help each other and get involved. Although we rejoice in the slaughter of powerful enemies as much as the next bunch of misfits, the guild is for the whole game, not for getting to the end game as soon as possible.
Peoples of any land, any manner of skills and any level of ability are welcome always, provided they understand our principles of being strong as many, and living for the enjoyment of now. All classes and nations of character are welcome, as are all classes and nations of player. We will not turn away good players because we have plenty of their class (subject to a potential cap on total membership), nor will we take in bad players to make up numbers.
The guild's favoured language for in-game chat is English. Please keep to this on guild chat channels, since many people are uncomfortable in a channel they can't read.
We will build ourselves a mighty town, then if Crom wills it another.
We will make raids against foul Picts and the like, and also against those who call themselves civilized should they deserve it.
We will collect materials for our crafters, that they may trade us fine weapons with which to crush our foes, armour to protect us, buildings for our town and many other things.
We will spend our quieter hours proving our strength in the tavern, and other pursuits that we enjoy.
Goals and activities: We aim for a good mix of activities, since most of our members will be out to gain the most enjoyment they can from the game, rather than aiming to conquer a particular aspect.
We will be building a PvE settlement, and using it as a social hub for RP and other player events. If we have enough time and willing members we will build and defend a PvP settlement. We will have plenty of PvE activity, including collaborative questing and instance runs. We will encourage crafting and share the burden of resource collection as best we can. And between all that, expect as much bar fighting, treasure hunts and murder mysteries, roleplaying and general partying as the game and our available players make possible.
We will share spoils fairly, to make us all stronger. Unless some group among us agree before they set forth, each item will go to the one with most need of it, or back to the town so that someone needy can be found. The guild favours a need-over-greed system run by a master looter, even at the highest of levels. Particular groups are welcome to agree on something else between themselves, especially when they include non-members.
We will listen to our Council, and they will listen to us. We give to them many decisions of leadership, and they will make the best decisions for us. The one among them who knows best how we are strong as many shall be recognised as our leader.
Though they may later explain more detailed rules, these principles of strength as many and of enjoying the Now are the ones that will guide our Council's decisions, both in making those rules and arbitrating issues the rules do not cover.
We have a ruling Council, chosen by the prospective membership as we had it before beta. They are our most senior officers, and will be in charge of distributing whatever in-game authority is required by the guild system - running votes of the members where appropriate - including appointing someone leader when the game requires it. If necessary, the Council will later produce more detailed rules and guidelines than appear in this Charter.
If you have a quarrel with a guild member, approach the Council who will arbitrate or mediate the disagreement for you. In the event of a complaint against a Councillor, the others will be able to arbitrate.
And finally:
We're a casual RP guild: we may set some channels aside for in-character (IC) interaction and others for out-of-character (OOC) business and we ask that everyone involved with the guild respect those designations.
Those who want to RP are welcome to, and those who do not need not. For that to work, all members must respect the rights of others (as in all things).
